If your child plans to sit AP exams in May 2027, the date to circle right now is 13 November 2026. That is the College Board’s final deadline (11:59 PM ET) for schools to order AP exams for full-year and fall-semester courses. Orders placed after it carry a late fee of US$40 per exam. The AP exam registration deadline 2027 is closer than it looks, because most Dubai schools close their own sign-ups well before the College Board does.
This guide explains the AP exam dates for 2027, how AP exam registration actually works for UAE students, what changes if you register through school or as an independent candidate, what the exams cost, and what the move to the digital Bluebook app means for your preparation. It is written for families in Dubai and across the UAE who are following the US pathway to university.
Here are the dates every UAE family should note before doing anything else.
For UAE families, 11:59 PM ET on 13 November works out to 8:59 AM on Saturday 14 November in Dubai. Treat that only as the absolute limit for your school’s coordinator. Your own deadline is almost certainly earlier.
Parents and students cannot order AP exams directly
Only an AP coordinator at an authorised school can place the order. This is true whether your child studies at an American curriculum school, a British or IB school that offers a few AP courses, or learns independently.
Your school’s deadline is earlier than the College Board’s
The 13 November date is when the school sends its order to the College Board. The coordinator collects student decisions and payments before that, so your child may need to confirm AP exams in the next few days.
A late order costs more and is not guaranteed
An exam ordered between 14 November 2026 and 12 March 2027 carries a US$40 late order fee on top of the base fee. Some schools may still add a student after the deadline, but that is entirely at the school’s discretion.
Cancelling after 13 November also costs money
Changes made before 13 November are free. After that date, an exam that is cancelled or left unused costs US$40, so it is worth deciding carefully now.
If your child’s school offers AP, the process is straightforward as long as you move quickly. Follow these steps.
1. Speak to your AP coordinator now
Ask for the school’s internal sign-up date, the list of AP exams being offered, and how fees are collected. Many coordinators set a deadline well ahead of 13 November.
2. Create or sign in to your College Board account
Students use the same College Board account they use for the SAT. If your child already has one, use it so that scores and score reports stay in one place.
3. Join your class section in My AP using the join code
Your AP teacher or coordinator provides a join code for each class section. Joining the section is what connects your child to the exam order.
4. Confirm which exams you are taking
Register only for the exams your child is prepared to sit. Check the exam calendar for clashes, because two exams scheduled in the same session cannot both be taken in the main window. One can be moved to late testing.
5. Pay the school’s exam fees
Fees are collected by the school, not on the College Board website. Ask the coordinator what the final amount is in AED and when payment is due.
6. Keep your confirmation and watch for your schedule
Your coordinator is responsible for telling you when and where to report, and whether you need to bring a device or one will be provided.

You are an independent candidate if you are homeschooled, learn through a virtual school, or attend a school that does not offer the AP subject you want. Many UAE students fall into this group, especially those studying British or IB programmes who want AP credit for the US pathway.
What the College Board requires
Parents and students cannot order AP exams directly. Independent students must find a school that is willing to administer the exam for them. The College Board advises looking up nearby schools in the AP Course Ledger, then contacting each school’s AP coordinator as early in the school year as possible.
What the host school’s coordinator does
If a school agrees to test an outside student, its coordinator handles the following steps.
No school is obliged to accept you
Acceptance is at each school’s discretion. Some Dubai schools do not take outside candidates at all, and those that do set their own subject list, deadline and fee. Schools may also charge outside students more to cover proctoring and administration costs. When you call, ask these questions.
If you contact a school after 13 November
A coordinator can still add a homeschooled or independent student to the order. For students whose own school does not administer the exam, the coordinator can ask the College Board to waive the late order fee, as long as the student is included in the order by 12 March 2027. Seats and goodwill are limited, so do not wait.
For 2026-27, the College Board’s base exam fee is US$129 per exam at schools outside the United States, Canada and DoWEA schools. That is roughly AED 474 at the fixed dirham rate. The College Board notes that fees can vary at authorised test centres outside the US, and your school may add its own administration charge, so always confirm the final amount with your coordinator.
Most AP exams now run in the Bluebook app
Exams are either fully digital, where every response is typed in Bluebook, or hybrid digital, where multiple-choice questions are answered in Bluebook and free-response answers are handwritten in a paper booklet. Always check the format for each subject on the College Board’s AP Central page before you start revising.
Format changes to watch for in 2027
New start times that apply in the UAE
From 2027, the College Board sets start times by time zone. For the UAE (UTC+4 in May), Session 1 starts at 11:00 a.m. and Session 2 starts at 3:00 p.m. Exams can begin up to one hour after the listed start time, and your coordinator confirms your reporting time. You can also check your school’s times on the official AP exam dates page.
Practise in Bluebook before exam day
The College Board offers practice tests in Bluebook, the same app used for the Digital SAT. Practising in the real interface removes one of the biggest sources of exam-day stress.
Match your AP subjects to your target degree
Choose subjects that support the course you want to study. A future engineer will usually prioritise Calculus and Physics. A business applicant may look at Economics or the new Business with Personal Finance exam.
Do not overload your May calendar
The exams run across two weeks, and heavy subjects such as Calculus BC, Chemistry and Physics need sustained revision. It is better to prepare well for fewer exams than to spread your effort thin across too many.

The AP exam registration deadline 2027 is a hard stop for most families, and the best time to act is today. Speak to your coordinator, confirm your subjects, and if you need an outside school to test you, start calling immediately. Early action protects you from late fees and gives you more months to prepare for the new digital format.

The College Board final exam-order deadline is 13 Nov (11:59 PM ET). Registering after this date will incur a late fee.
The main AP exams run from 3 to 14 May 2027, with morning and afternoon sessions scheduled globally.
Independent candidates must register through authorized external test centers like AMIDEAST or specific international schools that accept private candidates.
Many exams are moving to the digital Bluebook app, but you must check each subject individually, as some math and science tests still require paper components.
Yes, late registration is possible until early spring, but it comes with a mandatory late fee applied by the College Board.
Students will use the Bluebook app, which is the exact same testing application currently used for the digital SAT.
